Eventide simply means “the close of day” when lights begin to glow and a home settles into its natural rhythm. It’s a reminder of how deeply light shapes the way a space feels.
Eventide Studio was created to bring a more thoughtful approach to residential lighting, one that supports both the design of the home and the way it is lived in.
We design light to work quietly in the background, enhancing architecture, revealing texture and color, and shaping spaces that feel natural from evening into the day.

UNDERSTANDING LIGHTING DESIGN
What It Is
Lighting design is the planning and integration of light within a home. It defines how light is delivered, how it interacts with the architecture, and how each space will function so the result is cohesive and intentional from the beginning.
Why It Matters
When lighting is considered as part of the design, it becomes part of how the home lives. It contributes to well-being and influences how a home functions day to day, how comfortable it feels, and how well it supports the people living in it. Done well, it creates an environment that feels balanced, natural, and easy to live in.
Designed in Collaboration
Lighting is most effective when it is considered early alongside the architecture, interiors, and overall vision for the home.
Working closely with homeowners, architects, interior designers, and builders, lighting becomes part of the design itself rather than something added later.
This approach leads to more cohesive spaces, better performance, and fewer compromises during construction, and a more efficient use of the overall budget often resulting in meaningful cost savings.
From early concepts through final installation, care is taken to ensure the lighting supports both the design intent and how the home will be experienced.

Relationships matter in life and in our work
Eventide Studio is led by Danny and Melinda Streit. Melinda brings a strong instinct for design and an intuitive sense of how a home should feel. Danny’s background in lighting spans more than two decades, bridging both the technical and creative sides of the work. Together, they guide each project from early concept through completion, ensuring the lighting supports the architecture and how the home is used.

A Personal Note......
My connection to design began early.
My mother had an eye for beauty and a way of bringing it into everyday life. She designed and sewed her own clothes, filled our home with thoughtful details, and spent time in her garden creating spaces that felt cared for and alive. I grew up alongside that learning to notice color, texture, and form and how they come together to shape how a space feels.
Years later, when I purchased my first home, that awareness became something more. I found myself drawn not just to the furnishings, but to how everything worked together - the balance of materials, the way spaces felt at different times of day, the quiet impact of good design.
Then I met my husband, Danny, a man who is deeply moved by light and shadow.
Danny’s path into lighting wasn’t conventional. He first began working for an electrical distributor, then moving into sales and eventually into lighting design. He developed a deep understanding of how light works from every angle - the technical, functional, and artistic paired with extensive experience in how projects are built and delivered.
Where I was drawn to design, he was drawn to light in and together, those perspectives began to align.
Through that shared understanding, I came to see light not as a finishing touch, but as an essential part of how a home lives and feels.
That perspective became the foundation for Eventide Studio.
Today, our work reflects both of those origins—an appreciation for design and a deep understanding of light—brought together to create homes that feel considered, comfortable, and complete.
